Day 10: 100 Days Without Sweets (Celebrating a small victory)
I’m 10% of the way through my 100 days without sweets challenge!
I know it really doesn’t seem like much, but with how much I enjoy eating sweets I’ll celebrate this small victory early on.
Early victories in any pursuit are much more important than the ones that will come later.
Getting off to a great start sets you up for success going forward – this is especially true for beginner exercisers.
As a personal trainer I work with a wide variety of clients, but the similarity with all of them is the speed at which I start them off.
Regardless of who the client is I’ll start them slow, allow them to master the basics, and progress them from there. The early victories they have with getting into a routine, understanding the exercises, and getting to the gym consistently allow them to succeed in the future.
After being too lazy to go grocery shopping on day 9 of the challenge (Hey, I’m only human), I was able to get to the store, buy some food, and have some healthy options prepared for the day.
Here is what my nutrition looked like on day 10:
- 6:30 a.m. 3 Eggs, Pepper-jack Cheese, 3 Slices Deli Ham, 5 oz. Chicken, Spinach
- 11:45 a.m. 8 oz. Chicken, Broccoli, 1.5 oz. Almonds
- 5:00 p.m. 8 oz. Chicken, Broccoli, 1.5 oz. Almonds
- 9:00 p.m. 3 Eggs, Pepper-jack Cheese, 3 Slices Deli Ham, Carrots, Apple
You can probably tell from looking at my nutrition logs through the first 10 days that I eat a lot of the same meals. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy eating a variety of foods, but it is much easier for me to eat healthy if I stick the same meals and cycle through them.
In later weeks I may switch things up and opt for a protein source such as pork, beef, or fish, but for now my go-to is chicken.
I’m happy with my consistency so far, but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t want a cookie still 😉
