Day 23: 100 Days Without Sweets (What is healthy eating?)
Yesterday was the beginning of a new week on my 100 days without sweets challenge and I started the week off well.
My healthy eating hasn’t been as consistent as I would like, but it’s a work in progress.
Here is how day 23 turned out:
- 6:30 a.m. 3 Eggs, 1/2 Cup Oats w/ Whey Protein, Almonds, Blueberries, and Cinnamon
- 11:00 a.m. 5 oz. Tuna, Apple
- 4:15 p.m. 10 oz. Chicken, Broccoli, Olive Oil
- 8:00 p.m. Chicken Sandwich, Italian Sausage
I went to my favorite coffee shop again yesterday (The Lakefront Colectivo…formerly Alterra) and I’m finding it to be a place with massive temptations.
If you’ve never been there, they have all sorts of delicious treats staring at you as you wait in line.
At different times in the past I’ve ordered a cookie or brownie to go along with my coffee, but now I can do no such thing. Oh well.
Though I miss my sweets, I know it’s just a matter of time before I can have them again. Having an end date for this challenge is important and it keeps me going.
I don’t know how people ever completely give up foods they enjoy.
Sure, it’s important not to go overboard on any foods, I’m not a fan of cutting them out completely from your diet.
You should be able to eat some foods you enjoy for just that reason – you enjoy them. Isn’t that the point?
Healthy eating should involve eating some foods that aren’t the healthiest for you, but they need to be the exception, not the rule. That is healthy eating, for your body and mind.
How do you define healthy eating?
How often do you think would be acceptable to eat “junk food” during the course of a week?
