Exo Protein Bars: A More Sustainable Option
Cricket protein. Seriously.
I first tried out the Exo Protein Bars a few months ago and they tasted great – not at all what I expected. I mean, come on, a protein bar made with bugs? I didn’t really know what I was getting into, but I simply couldn’t pass them up – I had to try them.
Why cricket protein in the first place? Check out this great infographic straight from the Exo Team:
Basically, with cricket protein you’re getting much more edible protein per pound, less of an environmental impact and even more iron than spinach – not bad if you ask me!
According to Exo, 80% of the world is already eating insects on a regular basis, but of course, the United States is a little behind on this. I get it, we are in a position where we don’t have to eat bugs, so we choose not to.
However, with these Exo protein bars, they do a great job of combining crickets with other ingredients to create a protein bar that everyone can enjoy. So, even if you don’t care about the environment, you still get a friggin’ tasty protein bar.
You simply have to try them out – they’ll open your mind to what is considered “food”. They also have a flavor for everyone, with their current flavors being Apple Cinnamon (My favorite), Cocoa Nut, Peanut Butter & Jelly, and Blueberry Vanilla.
