What Would You Do If You Knew You Could Not Fail?
One of the biggest hurdles for anyone to accomplish their goal is to take the necessary steps to get started.
Often times we feel like the things we really, truly want in life are unattainable and with this thinking we end up never even trying to go after them – this is a shame.
Is life filled with failure? Of course it is, but who cares? Why should one failure stop you from trying another time?
Look around you at some of the greatest companies in the world and you’ll find that many of their founders had failed businesses prior to their successful one.
I’ve had my fair share of failures in my life and I’m sure you have as well, but that should never keep us from trying to accomplish worthwhile objectives.
I really enjoy the quote I showed you above because it gets us thinking out of our typical mindset. Typically we decide to do things based on whether we think we’ll be able to accomplish them or not – makes sense. However, we often sell ourselves short.
We often underestimate what we are actually capable of – I see it every day working with my personal training clients. I’ll ask them how much weight they can lift or how many reps they can do of an exercise and often times they’ll do way more than what they thought they could.
We underestimate what we are capable of so we can play it safe – so we can avoid failure, but this thinking limits our possibilities.
Why not expand our thinking?
Why not think in terms of what we actually want to accomplish, what we actually want to do, and who we actually want to become?
Will there be failures along the way? Most definitely, but that doesn’t matter.
By thinking of what we would do if we knew we could not fail we move towards the important things in life – we accept that along the path to achieving what we want and becoming who we want there will be failures, but we know this is just the price we pay to get where we want to get to.
Life is pretty cool. Don’t hold yourself back.
Have a great day!
